Ralph Lasky and Russell Scher first established the business in 1990, taking over a small practice from a retiring Optician. Following a successful six years, in 1996 the team moved to our current location to accommodate a rapidly growing client base.

Our practice, by Woodford Central Line tube station, has been our home for over 30 years, serving the communities of Woodford, South Woodford, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell. In that time our client database has grown dramatically to over 12,000 clients – a statistic that we feel reflects the professional and friendly service that we offer.

Today, Ralph remains the owner and manager of Scher & Lasky Opticians; you’ll often see him around the practice. His daughter Jo Stanley BSc Hons FBDO, is a qualified Dispensing Optician who can advise patients on the best optical solutions, based on each individual client’s visual requirements. Together Ralph and Jo ensure that the shelves are always stocked with the latest styles, and they keep up to date with all the latest advances in lens technologies, to ensure that clients leave having had the best possible service.

Our Optometrists (Ophthalmic Opticians) each have extensive experience in their field, allowing them to provide sound advice on anything eye-related. Simone Viniker BSc Hons FCOptom has been with the practice since it opened,and has extensive experience and a passion for Myopia Management. Nicola Everitt BSc Hons McOptom joined the team over 10 years ago, and is currently in the final stage of gaining her Independent Prescribers qualification, which means we will be able to offer our clients an even more bespoke, enhanced service.

Our front of house team Jill and Sara will make sure you always get a warm welcome, and are on hand to help you with any queries you may have.
